“Swim meet over. Stingrays win. THEEEEEE STINGRAAAAAYS WIN!" exclaimed Yankees play-by-play announcer John Sterling, who had managed to find his way to the Bainbrook Laurel Springs pool last Thursday night. Probably.
Bolstered by strong showings across the board in backstroke and freestyle, the Stingrays defeated the CVAC Somethings (mascot unknown) to solidify their strong standing in the neighborhood conference. Across the board, the coaches agree that the win was one of the most rewarding victories of the season thus far.
“CVAC has been a new opponent to us as of the past couple of years, and the coaches have been friends of ours, so beating them is just a little sweeter than a usual win,” said Haleigh. The Stingrays now hold a 2-1 record, with last Tuesday’s meet at Landerwood having been rained out.
“We are small but mighty!” added Makenna. The team’s turnout at meets has been improving, making them a force in the water for future competitions. Hopefully, that will extend to this week’s meets against Eaton (Tuesday) and 4 Seasons (Thursday). Keep a lookout on the team Remind for any weather-induced schedule changes!
