Pool is Filled with Too Much Water, Water Goes out of Pool: BBLS Week in Review

Between Overflowing Pools and Corkscrew Freestyle Races, the Stingrays Met Their Match This Week!

Pools are typically filled with water. A lot of water. That shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. If it is, well, now you know.

But what happens when a pool is filled with too much water?

While our far-North journalism may have blown the overflow out of proportion, water was flowing out of the neighborhood pool this past week and winding its way across the pool deck. The pool itself, however, was largely unaffected and swim practice continued as normal. No one was affected by the excess water, but Coach Makena’s phone was caught in the flood and endured substantial wetness. Fortunately, it still works, as you may have deduced by the several messages on the team Remind.

The events were quite a contrast to the scene at Solon High School on Tuesday, where BBLS swimmers arrived at their first away meet to find the diving well completely emptied of all water. Despite the lack of a warm-down area, however, the Stingrays made quite the splash, taking first in a majority of the events and demonstrating the many ways to jump off a diving block–– cannonballs, running starts, and more! The momentum carried into Thursday’s meet against Barrington, where, despite breaking our undefeated streak, the team had its strongest showing yet! Great efforts, Stingrays!

(Note: Though The Deep End’s photographer was a bit lacking on photos from this week, we did manage to get a few cute shots–– and more are sure to come as the season continues! All photos are included at the end of this article.)
