Blunder Down Under: Tyler Jones “Forgets” Jammers for the Bainbridge Invitational

The 30th Bainbridge Invitational was many things, but a pair of Nike Shorts was not expected to be one of them.

Tyler Jones, a resident of BBLS, showed up multiple times during the course of the meet. He showed up during his races, capturing a 3rd and multiple 1st place finishes. He also showed up to the meet without a swimsuit, opting instead to race in just his shorts.

Stubborn or innovative, Tyler’s choice of wardrobe didn’t hamper his efforts this past Saturday, outside of the 200 Medley relay, where he first had doubts about his choice of suit.

“The problem was that I forgot to tie them,” Tyler says.

Stubborn swimmer or 200 IQ genius? Only time will tell as Tyler hopefully continues to dominate his age group. However, in the sport of swimming, improvement doesn’t come for free. Sacrifices have to be made. The day may come where Tyler Jones will have to make a sacrifice of his own. Would he be comfortable trading in the Nike Swoosh for a similar-looking Speedo Arrow?

“I don’t like swim trunks,” adds Tyler, confirming his current stance on the issue.
